Alma School District is actively seeking an experienced talented and dynamic individual to join our highly successful and progressive schools. The goals and objectives for our classroom teachers include teaching children and growing the mindset and interest level of students regarding their development knowledge and application of skills. The successful teacher candidate will ultimately encourage students to discover and learn science concepts and skills through our science and literacy curriculum. Teaching science concepts through reading/literacy is a fundamental part of our curriculum at AHS. Our ultimate goal is to develop student capacity for problem solvers and prepare students for their future career and life beyond Alma School District. The candidate will also devote his or her energies and efforts toward learning experiences designed to fulfill students intellectual emotional physical and social growth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES EXPERIENCE AND SKILL SET
- Holds or is able to secure an Arkansas teaching license within the range of 712 science.
- Strives to improve students academic performance and motivate students to learn
- Strive to implement by instruction and action the districts philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives
- Assists the school i.e. administrators teachers students and support staff to reach their academic and behavioral benchmarks and goals
- Establishes high expectations for students cognitive affective and behavioral learning growth and development
- Contributes to the teaching and achievement of skills performance standards and outcomes
- Assists students in making appropriate choices and in decision making
- Assists in cultivating the development of students character
- Engages in the development of wellrounded students: including physically intellectually socially and emotionally to promote good mental and social health in students
- Creates a classroom environment and lessons that are conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students (including differentiation and engagement)
- Teaches high school students: utilizing course guidelines that are aligned with Arkansas teaching/learning standards and other designated district curriculum expectations
- Assists in the development of curriculum lesson plans that support the science core curriculum and integrates reading skill development in the science content area
- Uses technology to help students produce projects to demonstrate their understanding and skill attainment
- Has a passion for teaching in a studentcentered classroom
- Provides opportunities when needed for individualized and smallgroup instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student; includes the capacity to recognize the need for intervention
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly productive and engaging classroom environment
- Evaluates each students progress in science and literacy skills to provide support as needed
- Creates engaging active lesson plans to promote student mastery
- Communicates with parents and other personnel regarding student mastery and progress
- Supervises students in and out of classroom during the assigned workday
- Maintains professional competence by participating in continuous professional growth curriculum development opportunities Professional Learning Communities Response to Intervention teams as well as other leadership collaborative teams
- Shares in the sponsorship of student activities such as content projects promotional events as well as faculty committees and projects
- Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator in their evaluation and professional growth plan
- Committed to multiple days of professional development in regards to curriculum specific to the grade level; often involves several weeks during the summer months
- Maintains accurate records of student progress/grades
- Performs other duties as assigned.
