The Paralegal will be asked to handle a wide range of administrative legal and business matters under the supervision and guidance of a collaborative legal team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Contracts:
- Draft review summarize revise and/or negotiate contracts in multiple contexts (e.g. Transportation IT NDAs Employment Real Estate etc.).
- Contract management and organization.
Insurance & Claims Support:
- Communicate directly with insurance broker on daytoday insurance issues such as certificates of insurance coverage questions etc.
- Monitoring and tracking insurance invoices to ensure payment is issued timely.
- Assist in the renewal process of our sophisticated insurance program for property and casualty exposures including but not limited to collecting internal data for insurance submissions completing coverage applications analyzing quotes preparing quote comparisons etc.
- Review and analyze claims data in existing claims management system and report on findings.
- Gather organize and/or provide initial thoughts on responsive documents for certain claims against the Company as well as for inbound thirdparty document requests and subpoenas.
- Draft review and/or revise demand letters and notices for certain claims.
- Assist team in responding to and negotiating with external vendors when needed.
- Reviewing and negotiating towing invoices as well as providing documentation necessary for the release of equipment.
Administrative Support:
- Draft correspondence and take phone calls (on an overflow basis) on behalf of legal department personnel.
- Assist with maintaining real estate spreadsheet and associated property documents (leases closing documents title documents appraisals surveys etc.)
- Assist with collection of outstanding freight charges including preparation/review of demand letters filing against FMCSA bonds negotiating settlements preparing settlement agreements and releases etc.
- Ensure all vendor contracts are properly named and organized within the central repository.
- Provide administrative support as it relates to mergers and acquisitions.
- Organize and maintain calendars.
- Help counsel prepare and submit periodic reports to third parties (agencies vendors auditors etc.).
Qualifications :
- At least 5 years of relevant paralegal experience.
- Experience in the transportation industry preferred.
- Experience with contract negotiation drafting and revision.
- Selfstarter with the ability to work in a fastpaced environment.
- Creative critical thinker who values collaboration and finds ways to make improvements on Company processes policies workflows etc.
- Exceptional communication skills and an ability to engage effectively with a variety of audiences.
- Ability to multitask followup effectively and be efficient.
- Detail oriented.
A Successful Paralegal must have good oral and written communication skills in order to effectively interact with colleagues within multiple departments internal clients and third parties in person and on the telephone. They must be customer serviceoriented as well as teamoriented and must have exceptional organizational skills. A successful Paralegal must also be able to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Finally they must be able to work a flexible schedule when needed.
