Primary Responsibilities
Purpose of Job : Works with the Behavioral and Social Sciences ( BASS ) department to assist with research data collection and analysis literature review and other various duties as assigned. This position will work with the faculty and staff to provide student support peermentoring engagement with community and educational outreach. Duties and Responsibilities: Support faculty and researchers in conducting research projects related to Behavioral and Social Sciences. Help gather and analyze data and prepare reports on research findings. Assist in designing surveys interviews or experiments as part of ongoing research studies. Assist in data collection through surveys interviews and observational methods. Analyze quantitative and qualitative data using statistical software (e.g. SPSS R or Excel). Compile and organize data for easy access and interpretation by faculty members. Attend outreach events on behalf of the department. (Sully Showcase Lobo Days etc.) Conduct literature reviews to identify current trends theories and practices in behavioral and social sciences. Provide support to students during office hours answering questions related to course content or assignments. Support communitybased research and outreach initiatives that connect behavioral and social science with realworld issues. Assist in organizing and participating in community events or workshops focused on behavioral health social science awareness or related topics. Assist in managing the departments social media accounts and help in creating content for platforms like Facebook Twitter LinkedIn or Instagram. Promote department events research findings and initiatives through newsletters blogs and other communications channels. Provide assistance to undergraduate or graduate students who are conducting independent research projects. Facilitate study groups or peer mentoring sessions for students in behavioral and social science courses. Support adherence to ethical guidelines in research and data collection (e.g. confidentiality informed consent). Ensure compliance with institutional review board ( IRB ) procedures or other regulatory bodies when conducting research involving human subjects. Participate in workshops seminars or training sessions to develop research teaching and communication skills in the field of behavioral and social sciences. Other duties as assigned with consent. Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times Supervision: Direct supervision from Vincent Martin for day to day instruction. Multiple faculty will also act as the Faculty Mentor within the Lobos LEAD Program. At least one selfperformance evaluation and supervisor performance evaluation to be conducted at least once per appointment cycle. Lobos LEAD Program: The mission of Lobos LEAD is to provide students of Sul Ross State University the opportunity to take on leadership roles and employment opportunities that will translate into real world marketable skills career preparation and personal success. Initial pilot funding provided by the Title III LoboTrack to Success in STEM ( LTS ) grant an initiative to engage the talent motivation energy and aspirations from within our university community to address the identified national imperative to attract retain and graduate increased numbers of Hispanic and lowincome students.
