JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Office of Mental Health (OMH) and Nathan Kline Institute (NKI) seeks a candidate to fill a fulltime position to work under the general direction of the Chief Research Compliance Officer (CRCO). The Quality Improvement Monitor is a key position in helping to ensure that research is conducted in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations and institutional policies. The incumbent is responsible for conducting postapproval monitoring activities for human and animal research. Tasks include ongoing monitoring and observation of clinical and laboratory practices relative to approved IRB and IACUC protocols with an emphasis on educating and building partnerships with members of the research community. The successful candidate will be ready to partner across the Institute to ensure the fastidious oversight of NKI and OMHs research operations.
JOB DUTIES:
Collaborates in the development and maintains of the PostApproval Monitoring Program.
Reviews reports and corrective actions.
Conducts ongoing education and training or other process improvement initiatives based on the Programs results.
Leads preparation and conducts compliance and quality reviews investigations of unanticipated problems or noncompliance in a thorough and professional manner.
Writes reports with corrective actions.
Communicates findings with investigators compliance committees and appropriate parties and conducts education and training throughout the monitoring process with the ability to recommend further training from the education manager.
Requires some travel and on location monitoring as needed.
Telecommuting is currently allowed at 50% at the discretion of the supervisor but is subject to change by the Governors Office and the NYS Office of Mental Health.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
B.A./B.S. degree.
Minimum three years experience in HRPP/IRB activities; OR one year of Compliance monitoring
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Background Investigation/Justice Center Review Requirements:
Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment. 2) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.
