Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Production Manager provides excellent technical production and customer service to ensure a positive experience for all NWS/NWC artists coaches Fellows staff patrons and clients. They oversee designated activities and events and make informed decisions that are in the best interest of NWS/NWC and its internal and external clients advising the Technical Director of any technical and production operational issues and maintaining strong communications with internal departments and external clients to evaluate and identify strategies to provide the highest quality experiences.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- At the direction of the Technical Director serves as Supervisor on Duty and oversees the work of full and parttime Production Technicians and any contract labor for designated NWSrelated activities held at NWC elsewhere in the Miami area and on domestic and international tours
- Works closely with the Technical Director and Vice President Program Operations in managing and facilitating the daytoday logistical and technical requirements of NWS programs and other institutional activities
- In conjunction with the Technical Director Vice President of Business Development and Director of Business Development plans and manages the production of designated thirdparty activities held at the NWC and acts as liaison to thirdparty organizations regarding their logistical and technical requirements as assigned
- At the direction of the Technical Director schedules and supervises parttime Production Technicians and outside contract labor for designated thirdparty rental and NWS events
- Oversees the recruitment hiring and required training of parttime Production Technicians to ensure a wellrounded technically proficient team of technicians
- Serves as Stage Manager for NWSrelated and thirdparty activities held at NWC as assigned and calls all necessary stage entrance audio lighting and projection cues
- Participates in setting the stage according to the conductors specifications and to provide the best possible learning environment for Fellows and working environment for guest artists and musicians
- Plans supervises and participates in stage changes during rehearsals and concerts as assigned.
- Participates in all other matters related to the daily operations of the stage and elsewhere in the Miami area and on domestic and international tours
- Assists the Technical Director in maintaining inventory of all NWSowned stagerelated equipment and instruments; ensures stagerelated equipment is properly maintained as assigned
- Assists the Technical director in managing stage and equipmentrelated budgets
- Carries out all necessary safety procedures and takes appropriate action to address any safety related issues
- Participates in weekly departmental and other production meetings
- Performs other jobrelated duties as assigned
Qualifications :
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors Degree in Theater Production or a related field
- Minimum of three years of theatrical production experience preferably at music school orchestra or other performing arts organization
- Experience with currenttechnology audio equipment (DigiDesign D1 mixing console Yamaha DM2000V2 mixing console) lighting equipment (GrandMA and ETC Ion lighting consoles Varilite VL1000TS moving lights) and video projection systems (Christie Roadie HD30K) mechanical staging rigging and screen systems sound reinforcement and Vectorworks CAD software and electrical 220V power distribution
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Confirmed management supervisory and organizational skills
- Ability to interact effectively as both leader and teammate with a variety of personalities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and to the highest standards of theatrical production and concert presentation
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards for arena and performing arts venues
- Ability to lead numerous projects and productions simultaneously in a demanding multiactivity work environment
- Working familiarity with classical orchestral and chamber music preferred
- Passion for the mission of the New World Symphony and commitment to its values of community respect excellence accountability and trust
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including many nights and weekends
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Required to consistently exert various types of physical exertion including prolonged reaching bending kneeling lifting climbing stairs and ladders and walking long distances to access all areas of the facility
