Were now looking for a Subeditorto joinGuardian News.

Youll be working on agendasetting journalism by some of the worlds most respected reporters this could range from breaking political developments in Westminster to hardhitting investigations. As a subeditor in Guardian News you will help shape how we present news across our digital and print platforms ensuring it lands with maximum impact and appeal for our readers.

This is a permanent position 9 day fortnight work pattern with weekend working as required.

About the role

  • Subedit a range of copy across News output
  • Write online page furniture in collaboration with editors and senior production staff
  • Select pictures and multimedia elements to create the best visual presentation for content
  • Assign keywords and metadata
  • Optimise content for digital reach in consultation with audience team
  • Proofread print output

About you

  • Subbing and production experience particularly online
  • Confidence in in using web tools
  • Experience in creative visual presentation of content across platforms
  • Appreciation of Guardian history and values
  • Knowledge of media law
  • Journalismqualification media law knowledge and familiarity with the PCC code of conduct desirable but not an essential requirement
  • Ideally you will have a demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to the role.
