About the role
The Library Programs and Support Officer position is a fantastic opportunity to join Wyndhams libraries in providing high quality library and information services to our library visitors.
Reporting to the Truganina Library Lounge Branch Coordinator you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service assisting with regular collection maintenance duties and for providing administrative support to the branch. You will also need to be prepared to undergo training in program delivery and to deliver weekly programs for varied age groups. Some examples of our programs are preschool story times code club for young people and English Conversation Club for adults. During rostered desk shifts you may also be a designated Team Leader providing guidance and support to other staff.
This role is very diverse and you will be able to gain skills and knowledge in many different areas of public library work. A perfect opportunity for someone who enjoys variety in their work or who is wishing to see what area of Librarianship they may choose to specialise in. This position would also be a great starting point for someone who has completed their library technician qualification or has commenced studies in librarianship.
Please note that this position may be required to work from any Wyndham Library site and will be rostered to work Saturday morning shifts as part of a regular work pattern.

Tuesday: 10.00am6.00pm
Wednesday: 10.00am6.00pm
Thursday: 10.00am1.00pm
What your day will look like
- Perform daily library circulation tasks regularly checking hold alerts and shelving tasks as rostered and directed
- Contribute to the success of Library Services through active teamwork and effective performance of responsibilities and duties for this position
- Provide Branch support carrying out tasks as directed by the Branch Coordinator
- An improvement focus willingness to learn and a desire to develop your skills
- Supporting the delivery and development of existing plus new and improved library programs for the community including Early Years and Adult programs
- Promotion of the programs services and the collections of the branch and wider library service
What you will bring
- Ability to deliver a range of community programs from early years through to adult
- Prior experience in public libraries is desirable
- An understanding of how library collections work
- Proficiency in Library Management System functions
- An understanding of the Library and Community Learning goals within the broader organisational context
- Diploma of Library and Information Services or equivalent qualification
- Current employee Working with Children Check
- Strong customer service and problem solving skills
- A positive curious and flexible attitude
