About the Role

The Senior Registrar roles in ICU at SVHM is a senior appointment within our ICU. The position allows senior trainees to take on greater responsibility within the unit developing their managerial and leadership skills overseeing junior medical staff liaising and coordinating with nursing colleagues and other inpatient teams to provide exemplary care in a multidisciplinary approach. In addition to clinical responsibilities you should be confident in taking on the organisation and delivery of junior medical staff teaching. You are also expected to have skills in the assessment triage resuscitation and further management of patients with acute medical and surgical disorders such that you can supervise and support junior trainees in acquiring these skills.

You are expected to be comfortable with techniques and procedures associated with respiratory cardiovascular and renal support. Opportunities exist to consolidate skills in flexible bronchoscopy echocardiography and percutaneous tracheostomy as well as undertake a clinical research program within the ICU.

Classifications for this position will range from HM25 HM30 ($129048.40 $177622.12 pro rata per annum) salary sacrifice and excluding super

About the ICU

The ICU is a 20 bed mixed medical and surgical unit including cardiothoracic and neurosurgical intensive care services admitting 1600 patients per year. Although high in acuity and patient severity of illness ICU at SVHM maintains high performance and outstanding patient outcomes. The unit has accreditation for 24 months of core training with the College of Intensive Care Medicine including cardiothoracic and neurointensive care and the position is accredited by CICM as a Transition Year Role.
