The role of Specialist Modelling and Analytics will report to the Superintendent Analytics and will be based in our Perth office. Your primary focus will be to build and maintain a mature workbench of analytical tools and use them to turn around questions in a timely manner. You will work within a team of supply chain experts.
This position maximises value for BHP Iron Ore by:
Leveraging the dynamic simulation model and various analytical tools and techniques to answer complex supply chain questions
Valuing the throughput impact of productivity and minor capital initiatives
Providing support to the five year planning process
Constructing analytics solutions
Producing analysis outputs
Supporting Model Development and benchmarking activities
Foster a culture of innovation and look for innovative opportunities to increase the value Supply Chain Planning provides
As a strong candidate you will ideally have:
Degree in STEM (e.g. Computer Science Engineering Mathematics Statistics Physics Finance Operations Research)
Excellent communication skills the ability to engage with diverse audiences and be persuasive
Ability to work within a team to achieve outcomes
The ability to prioritise effectively and execute tasks in a fast paced environment
Data Analysis experience across various analysis approaches (more than 2 years)
Experience working with large data sets
Advanced experience with discrete event simulation / agentbased simulation preferably AnyLogic
Advanced knowledge of Python/R SQL desirable
Understanding of mining operations and mining practices;
Capable of working unsupervised and managing time effectively
Demonstrated analytical and problemsolving skills with the ability to make pragmatic decisions
