Your next career opportunity
As a Senior Lecturer in Womens Health at the University of Melbournes Department of Rural Health in Shepparton youll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of rural healthcare. Youll be responsible for organising the clinical curriculum examinations and pastoral care for medical students in their third year of the Rural Pathway MD program. This role offers you the opportunity to work closely with healthcare partners contribute to innovative teaching methods and directly influence the development of future rural practitioners.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead Womens Health Education: Coordinate and deliver obstetrics gynaecology and newborn health teaching for Rural Clinical School students through tutorials clinical sessions and ward rounds.
  • Enhance Student Experience: Organise clinical placements provide pastoral care and contribute to student assessments and examinations.
  • Foster Collaborative Relationships: Develop and maintain strong partnerships with healthcare providers and contribute to Rural Clinical School activities and committees.
  • Support Research Initiatives: Supervise medical student research projects as part of their MD Research Skills training where appropriate.

You may be a great fit if:
You are a qualified medical practitioner with a passion for rural health education possessing excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to fostering collaborative relationships within the healthcare community.

You may also:

  • Hold a medical qualification recognisable in Australia and Fellowship of an Australian College or equivalent.
  • Have experience in clinical teaching medical education and curriculum delivery.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Possess excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Show a commitment to maintaining and advancing your medical education skills.
  • Have an understanding of student needs and the ability to provide effective counselling.
  • Be familiar with the functioning of regional hospitals and universities.

Your new team The Department of Rural Health
The Department of Rural Health is a department within the Melbourne Medical School at the University of Melbourne. The Department is based in Shepparton Ballarat Echuca and Wangaratta and has associations with more than 40 smaller rural towns in Victoria.

The key purpose of the Department is to provide professional health education and research training in a rural context with an aim to increase the rural health workforce.

The Department works closely with the local community and healthcare partners to ensure that we remain relevant and connected. Our partnerships underpin our teaching and research. The Department of Rural Health is funded primarily by the Australian Government Department of Healths Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) Program. The aim of the RHMT program is to improve the recruitment and retention of health professionals in rural and remote Australia. The Department works towards this goal with various programs including: The Rural Clinical School the University Department of Rural Health and The Goulburn Valley Regional Training Hub.
