Job Description

Job Summary

The Senior Volunteer Coordinator will take on leadership within the Volunteer Team specifically ensuring the smooth functioning of the daytoday activities on the volunteer team will share in supervision responsibilities of interns fellows and core volunteers and lead individual/group volunteers in service.

Essential functionsprimary responsibilities

  • Ensuring the smooth functioning of the daytoday activities on the volunteer team by ensuring we are meeting all organizational needs in a professional timely and safe manner.
  • Work closely with volunteer supervisors supplying data and partners supporting the digital platform(s)through which volunteer services will be managed and carried out ensuring any issues are reported and action is taken in a timely manner.
  • Share in supervision responsibilities of interns and fellows by ensuring we are at all times providing a highlevel engagement for individual/group volunteers.
  • Provide orientations tours training and supervision for individual/group volunteers.
  • Manage and coordinate volunteer engagement in special projects including MLK Day of Service Home Reimagined and Community Connection Events.
  • Prepare and plan for speaking engagements fairs and other events to recruit volunteers and present our work.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to volunteer and outreach efforts such as answering emails returning calls and inputting data.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comprehension of safety policies and procedures.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks/projects to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.

Work environment

The Senior Volunteer Coordinator will work in a warehouse environment and an office setting.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None

Physical demands

Capable of moving about the warehouse for multiple hours and being seated at the computer for the remainder of the day. Must be able to withstand a variety of changing weather conditions as the warehouse is not fully temperature controlled.

Travel required

A valid drivers license and access to a personal vehicle are required. Occasional local travel generally within a 30minute radius may be necessary to attend meetings or events.

Required education and experience

  • Highschool Diploma or Equivalent
  • Four years of work experience at a nonprofit (advocacy social service mutual aid union etc)organization
  • One year of volunteer management experience
  • One year of supervisory experience of staff or volunteers
  • Public speaking
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required

Preferred education and experience

  • Associates Degree or Bachelors
  • Experience working with individuals and families living in poverty.
