Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Engineering Intern CoOp to be based in Philadelphia PA.

Our team is looking for a civil engineering coop student interested in joining a premier engineering company with potential to gain experience on a variety of challenging transportation projects that include work within the highway bridge rail mass transit and airport industries. Previous and current projects include several projects involving the reconstruction of I95 in the Philadelphia area reconstruction of I476 several reconstruction and interchange improvement projects along I78 in Berks County PA reconstruction and interchange improvements along I80 in Monroe County PA several total reconstruction projects along the Pennsylvania Turnpike supporting the design of Green Infrastructure within the City of Philadelphia and supporting DelDOT statewide pavement rehab program. Our clients include PennDOT PA Turnpike Commission DelDOT Norfolk Southern Railroad CSX Amtrak the Delaware River Port Authority the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission the City of Philadelphia and SEPTA.

This position is expected to begin in September 2025.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with design tasks including:
    • Preliminary to final design calculations
    • Development of design plans
  • Review field information and potentially perform field inspections of existing facilities
  • Perform duties aligned with those of an entrylevel graduate engineer
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm adaptability and a strong sense of personal responsibility
  • Apply technical training to perform basic engineering calculations
  • Collaborate effectively within a team setting
  • Commit to diligently learning new skills
  • Possess strong computer literacy and a proven ability to learn quickly
  • Adapt to shortterm assignments while maintaining focus on longterm projects

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience. and must have completed at least one year of study. Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelors degree and plan to continue with the Masters degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelors degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Capability in AutoCAD and/or Bentley CAD drafting software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
