Position Summary
As Senior Counsel Fintech & Regulatory you will play a key role in advising Sezzle on critical legal and regulatory matters. You will collaborate with crossfunctional teams to drive compliant product launches strategic partnerships and operational enhancements. You will provide practical businessminded legal advice in a fastpaced innovative environment ensuring Sezzles continued success and regulatory alignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on review draft and assist negotiating strategic transactions with
fintechs ecommerce players and customerfacing technology companies in support of Sezzles new products and partnerships.
- Understand the technology and services that the payments business areas legal and compliance teams deliver to to support bank partner products and apply complex financial regulations to help manage legal risks.
- Provide advice and guidance to business teams translating complex financial regulations into practical business advice ensuring compliant operations across Sezzles offerings.
- Support innovative product development including emerging technologies mobile shopping and lending features and fraud prevention initiatives.
- Conduct legal research on fintech trends digital assets and oversee federal/state regulatory monitoring.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on bankingasaservice (BaaS) partnerships interfacing with banks as appropriate.
- Engage with regulators regarding key regulatory areas of focus and lead licensing and exam management.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and work with business teams to develop strategies to implement new or changing federal/state requirements in supported business areas.
- Deliver forwardlooking practical and strategic legal advice in Sezzles fastpaced highgrowth environment.
- Act as a key partner to the Compliance team providing support on regulatory matters as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 7 years of legal/regulatory roles in consumer financial services fintech consumer lending or other relevant practice areas
- Significant expertise in federal laws and regulations including EFTA/Reg E FCRA/FACTA SCRA/MLA AML/BSA FDCPA NACHA and GLBA/Reg P.
- Strong understanding of banking and lending operations balancing legal risk with business strategy.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence stakeholders in a fastmoving environment.
- Proven ability to work independently be resourceful and provide practical advice in ambiguous situations.
- Demonstrated business judgment and legal problemsolving in a highgrowth context.
- Teamplayer mindset with the ability to collaborate across various functions and levels with a riskfocused and serviceoriented mindset

Compensation: The compensation range for the role is $160k $230k OTE including base and variable. Our ranges are very broad to accommodate all types of candidates and encourage growth. Specific compensation offered to a candidate may be dependent on factors such as education experience qualifications and alignment with market data. Exceptional candidates may receive salaries outside of the posted ranges.
