This is a contracted appointment that may last up to two years in duration. Paid internships occur throughout the State of Michigan.

This position serves as a laborer for the Clare Welcome Center. Duties include but are not limited to operating motorized equipment and power tools to assist in maintenance of the Welcome Center stocking and moving boxes of literature assisting with bulk literature shipments and distribution to storage areas and displays nonroutine grounds work to include power washing scrubbing retaining walls and maintaining flower beds and sidewalks general cleaning and upkeep of the common kitchen area offices and literature storage areas and other tasks assigned by the supervisor. This position also participates in promoting events and assisting with safety and health issues when necessary.

To be considered for this position you must:

  1. Possess a valid drivers license.
  2. Be an honorably discharged veteran.
  3. Attach a copy of your DD214 to your application. This document will be required in order to serve in the internship program. Failure to attached this document may result in your application being screened out of this hiring process.

MDOT does not participate in EVerify and does not sponsor visa applications.

All newly hired state employees are required to submit and pass a preemployment drug test and physical (if applicable) prior to their actual appointment. Criminal and driving records will also be checked if applicable. Any position offer will be conditional until results of the drug test physical criminal background and driving records indicate eligibility for employment.
