As a the National Imaging Facility (NIF) Plant Imaging Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne youll be at the forefront of the ARC (Australian Research Council) Centre of Excellence in Plants for Space investment to develop superefficient zerowaste plants for space exploration and Earth sustainability. Youll work with cuttingedge MRI CT and PET technologies to advance our understanding of plant biology collaborating with a global network of scientists and international space agencies. This role offers a unique opportunity to make significant contributions to both space exploration and sustainable agriculture.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead Plant Imaging Research Capability: Develop and apply advanced imaging techniques using MRI PET and CT for whole plant systems.
- Design Innovative Experiments: Create and conduct studies that address the four missions of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Plants for Space.
- Collaborate Globally: Work with worldleading scientists and engineers to solve challenges in space agriculture.
- Mentor Future Scientists: Provide technical support and expertise to graduate researchers and students.
- Bridge Disciplines: Connect imaging expertise with the goals of the Plants for Space initiative.
- Publish HighImpact Research: Coauthor publications in leading journals that advance plant science and space agriculture.
You may be a great fit if:
You hold a PhD in science engineering or have equivalent research experience in imaging with a passion for applying your expertise to plant biology and space exploration.
You may also:
- Have a strong track record of research in MRI PET or CT imaging.
- Demonstrate ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
- Thrive in multidisciplinary international collaborative environments.
- Excel in time management and project coordination.
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Show enthusiasm for the potential realworld applications of your research in space exploration and sustainable agriculture.
