Works under the general supervision of the ESB Major to accomplish the division goals and objectives. Assist ECD management personnel with development and/or enhancement of general commercial vehicle enforcement related programs and initiatives. Interact extensively with external entities on frequently controversial and sometimes sensitive transportation related topics requiring excellent discretion and sound judgment when dealing with individuals. Must exhibit a clear understanding of state personnel rules which clearly differentiate between a constituents disagreement with the application of law. Maintain detailed statewide Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) inspection monthly spreadsheet Monthly updates and reconciliations. Maintain individual Arizona CVSA inspection spreadsheet and quarterly updates and reconciliation with the monthly spreadsheet data. Monitor incoming requests from industry and ECD CVSA Units to include CVSA inspections regulatory SafeSpect FMCSA Ports CDLIS CVSA certification tracking data ARS and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Regulation. Investigate and respond to all calls and other correspondence from both internal and external sources which are related to division commercial vehicle safety inspections and FMCSA DataQ challenges against ADOT inspections. Process new FMCSA Portal user accounts ECD CDLIS and MVD users.
Background check and in and outofstate travel is required.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona based upon the departments business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Works under the general supervision of the ESB Major to accomplish the division goals and objectives; Monitor analyze and compile relevant commercial vehicle activity data from various sources including FMCSA databases IIS Virtual Port systems utilize these to prepare enforcement related correspondence to Division management and other entities both within and outside of Arizona. Produce charts and tables related to research data.
Assist in the development and administration of effective enforcement programs to address areas of concern including but not limited to overweight vehicles improperly credentialed vehicles and those operating in violation of a Federal OutofService order.
Responsible for addressing incoming inquiries from both internal and external customers which relate to Division issued Driver Vehicle Examination Reports (DVERs). Focus areas include but are not limited to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) protocol and applicable Arizona Revised Statutes.
Serve as the Divisions Data Q coordinator receive track investigate and report completed Data Q challenges to ADOT ECD DVERs within the required time limitations. Facilitate the gathering of evidentiary data to determine the velocity of the challenged violations.
Maintain an effective working relationship with the Division field units and understand and utilize FMCSA and State Commercial Vehicle related databases. Current CVSA inspection protocol applicable State and Federal laws/regulations and associated case laws with which to assist in determinations of fact.
Serve as a secondary point of contact for ECD field personnel requesting regulatory guidance and assistance in regards to commercial vehicle enforcement. Maintain a strong working knowledge of applicable Federal and State regulations and CVSA inspections procedures and protocol virtual port technologies and both government and private commercial vehicle related databases and local commercial vehicle safety enforcement programs and the jurisdictional issues related to roadside inspections postcrash investigations compliance reviews and New Entrant safety audits.

*Prior experience in a sworn commercial vehicle enforcement assignment both as an officer and as a supervisor.
*Prior Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance experience.
*Prior experience developing directing and administering commercial vehicle enforcement field programs.
Valid drivers license
As this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid classappropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R210207.11).
