The New York County District Attorneys Office (DANY) has an opening for an Investigative Analyst in its Violent Criminal Enterprises Unit (VCEU). VCEU is responsible for the investigation and prosecution of violent organized crime in Manhattan and beyond including drugrelated homicides armed street gangs interstate gun runners and narcotics dealers. The Unit works with the elite units of the NYPD as well as with federal agents from Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and New York Citys joint firearms and narcotics task forces to reduce violent street crime by disarming violent offenders. In this position Investigative Analysts are responsible for providing highly skilled analytical support to the units Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs) and office.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Within team concept work closely with ADAs local state and federal law enforcement agencies in longterm investigations and prosecutions of violent organized crime including street gangs major narcotics dealers interstate gun traffickers and gangrelated homicides.
Perform indepth open source searches of investigative targets and create profiles based on results.
Mine social media and search warrant returns for corroborating evidence.
Analyze documentary evidence including cellsite call detail financial and social media records to develop coherent understanding of the details of the case.
Collect and analyze data relevant to specific unit investigations and cases.
Work directly and independently with police detectives and federal agents.
Analyze evidence from multiple sources and connect how the items of evidence are related and interact with one another.
Review and transcribe Department of Corrections phone calls and wiretap phone calls and prepare integrated trial exhibits presenting the recordings and the investigations findings.
Generate trial and Grand Jury exhibits that effectively present the items of evidence and conclusions that can be drawn from them.
Translate field intelligence and evidence into a clear coherent and persuasive narrative to be presented in the courtroom.
Collaborate with other units within DANY to export the work practices and techniques developed in VCEU to multidefendant investigations and cases throughout the Trial Division.
Perform other administrative and paralegal duties as assigned.
In addition to the Minimum Qualification Requirements candidates must possess the following:
Level 1 bachelors degree from an accredited college and one (1) years of experience either as a paralegal in the criminal justice field or equivalent.
Level 2 bachelors degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience either as a paralegal in the criminal justice field or equivalent.
Level 3 bachelors degree from an accredited college and three (3) years of experience either as a paralegal in the criminal justice field or equivalent.
*Masters degree can be substituted for years of experience. *
Preferred Requirements/Skills:
2 4 years of experience either as a paralegal in the criminal justice field or equivalent based on the level.
Prior law enforcement or investigative agency experience.
Excellent organization communication time management writing and creative problemsolving skills are essential.
Strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy.
Literacy in computer applications including PowerPoint and Excel required; knowledge of AJIS Clear Bloomberg and other CityNet systems.
Proficiency in Internet search strategies and techniques.
Ability to work in a fastpaced teamoriented environment.
Perform all assignments in an accurate professional and expeditious manner.

Current office employees: To be eligible for a transfer or promotion staff must have already served at least 1 year in their current unit/bureau/department and be in good standing. In addition must meet the minimum and additional qualifications of the position.
