Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi The opportunity

A Lecturer or Senior Lecturer vacancy has become available at Te Kupenga Hauora Mori within FMHS.

This exciting opportunity seeks wellqualified applicants who want to contribute to quality teaching research and student support in Mori health.

Main duties will include:

  • To provide leadership in and contribution to the development planning and implementation of foundation undergraduate and postgraduate courses and programmes of study in Mori health and including contribution to the health professional programmes.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the Hauora Mori curriculum in FMHS.
  • Be an active member of the Tmaiora Mori Health Research Group and contribute to the groups commitment to building research capacity and excellence among Mori   
  • Secure Faculty and external funding to support a research programme.
  • Collaborate with other academic groups Mori organisations and communities in delivering high quality health research 

This is a fulltime (40 hours per week) permanent position. The salary range for these roles is between $94981 $151251 dependent on skills and experience.

Qualifications :

Applicants should have postgraduate qualifications (usually at the Doctoral level) in a relevant academic discipline and be experienced in teaching and supervising postgraduate students.

Ideally applicants should be researchactive and have a developing portfolio of peerreviewed publications.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential:

  • A PhD in public health or Mori health is ideal otherwise a significant relevant postgraduate qualification in Mori health or public health
  • Vocational registration in a branch of medicine

       is necessary for applicants with a medical              

       speciality

  • A track record of highquality academic teaching
  • Experience in supervising postgraduate students is desirable
  • A track record of highquality research and publications
  • Demonstration of commitment to health equity      for Mori in teaching research and service

Preferred:

  • Expertise in or knowledge of Te Reo and tikanga Mori would be valued.
