The Service Mesh Engineering team is a dynamic and skilled group responsible for designing building and maintaining our service mesh infrastructure which forms the backbone of our microservice architecture. We play a crucial role in managing servicetoservice connectivity securing traffic providing observability metrics and enhancing service resilience through proper use of Hystrix timeouts and rate limiting. Our team collaborates closely leveraging expertise in networking infrastructure microservices and more.

Get to know the role
Were looking for a handson Engineering Manager to lead our Service Mesh team the group responsible for designing implementing and scaling our service mesh infrastructure (Istio) to power a resilient observable and secure microservices ecosystem.
Youll guide a team of talented engineers collaborate with platform teams and business service teams and shape the future of how our services communicate. If youre passionate about cloudnative networking zerotrust security and platform reliability this role is for you.
What Youll Do
Lead & Grow the Team: Mentor engineers foster a culture of ownership and hire top talent.
Own the Service Mesh Strategy: Drive adoption of Istio ensuring it meets performance security and scalability needs.
Bridge Tech & Business: Work with service teams and platform teams to align service mesh capabilities with application requirements (e.g. traffic management mTLS observability).
Optimize Performance: Tackle challenges like latency spikes sidecar overhead and crosscluster routing.
Incident Leadership: Be the escalation point for service mesh outages and complex debugging sessions.
Qualifications :
MustHaves
5 years in infrastructure/platform engineering with 2 years managing teams.
Deep expertise in service mesh technologies (Istio Consul or Envoy).
Handson experience with AWS Kubernetes API gateways and cloud networking.
Strong grasp of security fundamentals (mTLS RBAC zerotrust).
Ability to debug distributed systems.
NicetoHaves
Contributions to opensource service mesh projects.
Experience with multicluster/multicloud mesh architectures.
