Title: Project Skills/Critical Thinking Coordinator
Team: Middle Phase Leadership Team / Higher Phase Leadership Team
Responsible To: Secondary Head Teachers
Job Function: To manage promote and develop the Extended Project Qualification Project Skills in Year 9 and Critical Thinking in the Middle Phase.
Duties:
- To run promote and develop further the EPQ provision at BSK.
- To have an indepth understanding of policies and procedures relevant to the role their desired outcomes intended future developments and methods of operation.
- To ensure the completeness accuracy and periodic review of all related policies procedures and documentation.
- To promote and market involvement in the EPQ programme to current and prospective Sixth Form students.
- To liaise with the Examinations Officer (EO) regarding examination board requirements and all related administrative matters.
- To manage the structuring and delivery of the taught element of the EPQ programme as part of the ECA schedule.
- To recruit train and oversee supervisors within the EPQ Team.
- To produce the annual EPQ Exhibition through which candidate presentations are delivered.
- To work closely with the Higher Phase Leadership Team in order to ensure that the academic and nonacademic demands upon EPQ students remain manageable.
- To ensure that appropriate steps are taken to assess and manage any potential risks or ethical issues associated with individual project proposals and that all relevant policies and procedures are followed.
- To oversee and manage the teaching of Project Skills within the Year 9 curriculum.
- To oversee and manage the teaching of Critical Skills within the Middle Phase.
- To liaise with the Student Welfare and Safeguarding Coordinator and other relevant colleagues involved in safeguarding in order to ensure that all relevant policies and procedures are followed.
- To carry out other related duties as required by the relevant Secondary Head Teacher or Principal.

Prospective candidates should submit the details of at least two previous employers as referees which must be their two most recent employers covering a minimum of four years of employment or all of their employment if the candidate has less than four years of experience.
If a candidate has only one previous employer two references can be provided from the same employer.
For candidates in a school where the line manager is providing a reference the reference must be countersigned by the Head Teacher or Principal.
All successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced criminal background check and must provide a detailed residential history for the last ten (10) years.
