About us
Riverlanes mission is to make quantum computing useful sooner. From advances in material science to complex chemistry simulation for drug design and discovery quantum computers will help solve some of the worlds most important challenges. Riverlane is building the quantum error correction stack Deltaflow to make this happen. Its a complex problem that requires a range of skills talent and passion.
About the role
At Riverlane we build new and advanced solutions to solve one of the hardest problems in quantum computing: quantum error correction (QEC). Due to continued growth we have an excellent opportunity for a System Software Engineer to help us test build and integrate Deltaflow (the worlds first QEC stack) into our external partners hardware.
This exciting and cuttingedge work will involve collaborating with inhouse engineering teams as well as our external quantum hardware partners. As System Software Engineer your ability to confidently support our customers to integrate Deltaflow by delivering a seamless installation will be critical. You will be comfortable delivering effective technical support to customers both inperson and remotely.
When youre not supporting customers with installations you will be designing building and testing userfacing software libraries to ensure performance and reliability so that our partners can get the most out of Deltaflow. Were creating something truly unique complex and largescale so being comfortable with engineering to evolving specs is key. As such you will be happy and excited to get handson quickly in areas outside your own expertise. You will also thrive in a collaborative environment work well with different people and be teamoriented.
Prior quantum computing knowledge is not necessary you will learn this along the way!
What you will do
- Design and build components for our quantum error correction stack with a focus on userfacing software libraries to help customers test and use our system
- Ensure wholesystem correctness and performance through the creation of tests and benchmarks
- Integrate our system with customers and build the infrastructure to make these efforts reproducible
- Develop a broad understanding across several layers of the stack
Requirements
What we need
- Expertise with Python
- Curiosity to learn about new technologies including quantum computing and quantum error correction
- Capability to lead positive customerfacing interactions
- Ability to explain highly technical concepts clearly helping clients get up to speed quickly with using a complex system
- Experience with standard development practises such as source control (e.g. git) continuous integration and unit testing
- Familiarity with networking (equipping you with the ability to securely connect our system to an external partner)
- Ability to effectively and calmly debug issues in a deployment and adapt to find workarounds as needed
- Great communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse range of people (both internally and externally) are absolutely essential
