The role:

As an Automation Specialist you will help drive our goals by:

  • Delivering complex A&R projects supporting and aligned to the R&D operations transformation roadmap over a time horizon 13 years ensuring key stakeholders are consulted and communicated with effectively.
  • Working with the R&D Operations Transformation Lead establish a Teesside A&R steering group with key stakeholders from R&D and supporting functions to develop and manage a central opportunity register for new A&R projects with a balanced evaluation and prioritisation process.
  • Supporting the design and development of a standardised business case assessment framework for A&R opportunities to ensure value capture as well as full documentation of process requirements and scope.
  • Establishing effective working relationships with R&D teams identifying improvement opportunities and supporting the community in understanding how to exploit A&R for future benefit from workflow analysis to design and deployment empowering them to move to higher value activities accelerate data generation and/or reduce labour costs.
  • Facilitating ever improving EHS performance across the organisation through close partnership with process safety engineering assurance and IT cyber security groups in the delivery of A&R projects supporting the development of internal engineering and software/data control competencies where required.

Key skills/qualifications that will help you succeed in this role:

  • Relevant scientific or engineering degree with a strong learning agility
  • Experience of robotics and automation projects within an R&D setting
  • Ability to deliver complex projects on time and to budget with an understanding of workflow design and ensuring process requirements are captured and fully delivered
  • Strong team player collaborative style and excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence across multidisciplined teams
  • Experience of developing successful business cases with substantiated financial benefits
  • Ability to successfully deliver change to end users outlining the key benefits of new ways of working as well as defining and facilitating the delivery of training
  • Ability to create and manage external partnerships including the management of commercially confidential information and IP
