Job Description

The Corporate Controllers organization delivers enterprise-wide accounting reporting and risk-based control solutions to enable confident data-driven decision-making. We ensure compliance with Pfizer Accounting Policies US GAAP and global regulatory standards while supporting strategic transformation across business units. To drive accountability and enhance service delivery divisional controllership functions are embedded within each business area and report directly into the Controllers organization.

As theDivisional Controller for R&D and PGS this leader will serve as the primary point of contact for all controllership accounting and financial reporting matters for these enterprise functions. This position partners closely with senior Finance and Business Operations stakeholders and plays a pivotal role in maintaining financial integrity enabling compliant decision-making and embedding best-in-class accounting practices across R&D and PGS operations globally.

Key Responsibilities

Controllership & Reporting

  • Lead global controllership oversight across R&D and PGS ensuring timely accurate financial reporting aligned with Corporate Accounting Policies US GAAP and local statutory requirements.
  • Serve as the primary advisor to R&D and PGS Finance leaders on accounting issues providing interpretation technical guidance and proactive solutions.
  • Drive end-to-end governance over P&L and balance sheet integrity including trend analysis forecasting benchmarks and compliance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Divisional Controller and VP Finance R&D/PGS to elevate controllership strategy and operational execution.

Technical Accounting & Policy Leadership

  • Act as the first-line resource on technical accounting matters and complex transactions including restructures M&A impairments and external reporting implications.
  • Prepare and review technical memos and documentation supporting audit and financial disclosures.
  • Partner with the Technical Accounting Group to assess new accounting standards and lead their implementation across R&D and PGS.

Compliance Risk & Controls

  • Coordinate across Corporate Audit GRCC and external auditors (KPMG) to ensure seamless audit processes and resolution of findings.
  • Actively identify assess and address internal control risks ensuring remediation plans are in place and well-executed.
  • Promote a culture of transparency integrity and accountability across all finance and operations activities.

Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive standardization simplification and automation in financial processes and control frameworks across global R&D and PGS teams.
  • Identify and lead opportunities for operating model transformation including stronger integration with Global Financial Solutions (GFS) and Business Technology (BT).
  • Serve as R&D and PGS liaison on enterprise-wide initiatives and process improvement efforts.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead a highly matrixed global team of divisional controllers and finance professionals fostering collaboration talent development and succession readiness.
  • Set clear performance expectations and create an inclusive environment rooted in high performance shared accountability and professional growth.
  • Coach and develop key talent within the controllership function cultivating future finance leaders.

Required Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in accounting Finance or related field required; CPA strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in accounting controllership or audit within large global organizations
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP internal controls and financial governance frameworks
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and navigating complex matrix environments
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen execution focus and a continuous improvement mindset

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience supporting global R&D and/or PGS (supply chain/manufacturing) functions within life sciences or similarly complex industries
  • Prior experience interacting with executive leadership auditors and technical accounting experts
  • Strong analytical communication and change management skills

Other Job Details

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $204700.00 to $341100.00. In addition this position is eligible for participation in Pfizers Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
