Job Description

Title:

Lead Pipelines Engineer

KBR is looking for a Lead Pipelines Engineer to work in our Leatherhead office.

Key Responsibilities:

Pipeline Design:
Design of pipeline systems including determining route optimization alignment and wall thickness. Ensure all designs meet current industry standards and safety regulations while optimizing functionality and efficiency.

Installation Strategy Development:
Plan and develop strategies for pipeline installation. Consider environmental factors such as land usage topography and installation methodologies. Work closely with other teams and contractors to implement practical safe and efficient installation procedures.

Project Leadership:
Manage pipeline projects setting project objectives timelines and resources. Monitor progress to ensure that deliverables meet set targets including deadlines budget constraints and quality expectations.

Technical Expertise:
Provide technical support and leadership throughout the project lifecycle collaborating with other engineers (geotechnical structural and onshore operations teams) to address design challenges and ensure optimal execution of pipeline systems.

Risk Mitigation:
Identify potential risks associated with pipeline projects including environmental or operational hazards. Perform risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to ensure the safe execution of pipeline activities and compliance with environmental standards.

Quality Assurance:
Define and implement quality control measures for pipeline projects. Oversee regular audits and inspections to ensure all deliverables adhere to project specifications industry standards and safety regulations.

Vendor and Contractor Relations:
Work closely with equipment suppliers contractors and subcontractors ensuring that selected vendors meet project standards. Oversee contract management and vendor performance throughout the project lifecycle.

Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for both internal stakeholders and external clients highlighting project progress technical challenges and proposed solutions. Ensure all documentation is accurate up to date and effectively communicated.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
Stay informed of new developments in pipeline engineering including emerging technologies and changes in regulations. Proactively recommend and implement innovative solutions to improve project outcomes and operational efficiencies.

Team and Business Development:
Committed to professional development of the wider Piping team. They are willing to provide onjob Pipeline Engineering training and development of others. Prepare input to any inhouse training exercises or material or programs. Assist with resourcing and recruitment of Pipeline Engineers. Directly contribute to new project concepts and proposals.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Civil or a related Engineering field.
  • Extensive experience in pipeline design installation and maintenance.
  • Deep knowledge of industry codes and standards (API DNV ASME EN) relevant to pipeline systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of Pipeline mapping using Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • Proficiency with design software and tools such as AutoCAD and pipeline analysis tools like CAESAR II.
  • Strong knowledge of pipeline installation techniques including pipelaying and equipment deployment.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage large and smallscale engineering projects.
  • Exceptional problemsolving and analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams contractors and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to maintaining high safety standards and environmental stewardship throughout pipeline operations.
  • Adhere to KBR WAY engineering standards and procedures as appropriate and provide input to their ongoing development and enhancement.
  • Committed to multicenter project execution and working collaboratively with other KBR offices.
