Job Description

Our client is in search of a Payroll Accountant to join their team in New Glasgow NS. This is permanent opportunity as part of a leading valuesdriven company. In this role the successful candidate will be responsible for payrollrelated accounting supporting collaboration between finance and human resources to ensure topnotch financial records and continuous process improvements.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

  • Prepare payroll journal entries account reconciliations and monthend reports
  • Support GL reconciliation and financial audits for payroll and G&A
  • Ensure payroll compliance with all relevant regulations
  • Monitor and implement legislative updates affecting payroll accounting
  • Assist with payrollrelated financial statements and variance reporting
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate payroll cost allocations
  • Analyze payroll and G&A data for insights and improvements
  • Track and report on G&A expenses identifying efficiencies
  • Identify and implement payroll process improvements and automation
  • Support system updates testing and enhancements
  • Maintain accurate payroll data in financial systems

Experience & Attributes for Success:

  • Postsecondary degree in Accounting Finance or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of payroll accounting experience
  • PCP or CPM designation is an asset
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws and best practices
  • Experience with payroll/accounting systems (Yardi considered an asset)
  • Proficient in Excel and financial reporting tools
  • Detailoriented with strong analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Effective communicator with a collaborative mindset
  • A problemsolvers mentality with a desire to boost efficiency and stay productive
