Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Commercial Director to join our Mobility Business Unit in Western Canada. This role will be major project/program based working closely with the Project Director to provide leadership in cost and commercial management to high profile projects.

This role sits within our Mobility Global Business Unit. We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Climate change urbanization and digitization trends are requiring todays mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the worlds growing population. We design connected sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies and optimize the mobility of people and goods.

Role accountabilities:

In this role you will be responsible for providing advice and support at all stages from inception to completion. You will collaborate with project teams (e.g. Commercial Change Management Operational Technical Staff Planning Teams) on all commercial maters. You will mentor and guide junior team members on contract management and claims best practices leverage expertise in CCDC FIDIC or other standard forms of contracts to ensure compliance and project success. You will effectivelyandproactivelymanage all commercial matters; administering head contracts monthly cost and value analysis and reporting (client and business) project communications project controls and monitoring (CPI/EV) administering sub consultancy agreements payments invoicing reviewing and preparation of claims; from preparation of notice record keeping establish entitlement validate data demonstrate and prove time and costs measure quantify submit negotiate crystalize disputes prepare briefing notes to commercial counsel and management.

Additionally you will be responsible for actively contributing to and providing best practice commercial management leadership to the Performance Excellence Group effectivelyandproactivelymanaging contract claims and where appropriate both initiating and defending claims under contracts prepare briefing notes to commercial counsel and management. You will develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize contractual disputes engageinContinuingProfessionalDevelopment(CPD) and ensure you are familiar and compliant with health and safety regulations and guidelines.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Major international Programs experience essential
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying Engineering Construction Management or similar
  • LLM / MSc construction/ contract law is preferable
  • Membership in recognized professional bodies (e.g. PQS MRICS MIOB) is preferred
  • Experience working in Canada the UK Australia or the Middle East is a must
  • Minimum 25 years in contract management administration claims preparation and rebuttal on major infrastructure projects
  • Contracting and consulting background preferable
  • Excellentwrittenandverbalcommunicationskills

The salary range for this position is $114590 $212810. The base salary represents Arcadis hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors such as location skills experience and qualification for the role.
