What We Are Looking For:

This position will be working closely with a group of lawyers in our Financial Services group focusing on Bankruptcy & Insolvancy. The successful candidate should have strong organizational skills and should be versed in multitasking and prioritizing work. If you are someone who has good time management skills takes initiative and is open to learning new skills this position may be a good fit for you.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operation of several legal practices with a primary focus in Bankruptcy Insolvency and Corporate Commercial Litigation
  • Prepare edit and complete all necessary correspondence and documentation
  • Assist with the finalization of various litigation documents for Civil Commercial and Federal Court including but not limited to: motion records pleadings notices affidavits affidavits of documents and bill of costs
  • Produce the highest quality of work
  • Handle daily administrative details
  • Manage duties related to accounting
  • Accountable for all work assigned
  • Arrange meetings
  • Calendar management
  • Take initiative
  • Confidential

Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years previous experience as a Legal Assistant in Litigation
  • Successful completion of a related postsecondary Legal Assistant or Law Clerk program
  • Excellent knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Knowledge of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and the Companies Creditors Arrangement Act would be considered an asset
  • Experience submitting and formatting materials for the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Commercial List) would be considered an asset
  • Previous experience with ACL is considered an asset
  • Handle time pressure situations and stress of multiple demands
