We are looking for an energetic passionate reliable 1st and 2ndyear Apprentice Carpenter to join our Calgary Manufacturing Plant. This is a unionbased position.
Reporting to the Lead hand Carpenter Apprentice is responsible for assisting in constructing erecting installing and repairing structures and fixtures of wood plywood and wallboard conforming to local building codes.
Job Responsibilities:
- Build house framework walls roof exterior and interior finishes
- Install doors windows flooring cabinets stairs handrails paneling molding and ceiling tiles
- Repair and remodel existing structures of all kinds
- Read and interpret drawings.
- Select materials plan sequences and methods of work and measure and mark materials to avoid costly mistakes or omissions.
- Cut and shape materials and join them with nails screws bolts or glue.
- Check completed units to ensure they are level square plumb and in the right size shape and location.
- Work accurately and economically and follow national and local building codes.
Job Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a carpentry program and meet the qualifications as a 1st and 2nd year Carpenter Apprentice
- Basic math and computer skills
- Ability to stand crouch and kneel for long periods of time
- Capacity to lift heavy equipment and materials when required
