Reporting to the Procurement Lead Capital NPK the Sr. Manager Capital Procurement Potash will be responsible for developing and driving sourcing and business strategy for the procurement of goods and services aligned to Nutriens capital program objectives. You will oversee the Potash capital procurement organization ensuring appropriate/optimal structure and talent recruitment and retention within it. The role will be a critical strategic partner to Potash Operations teams Category Management Procurement Governance and internal customers in planning and managing spend while procuring quality products and services to improve reliability and create efficiency.

What you will do:

  • Represent the capital procurement team for the Potash business unit and engage with Nitrogen and Phosphate procurement to create standardization and explore opportunities
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient procurement of $900 CAD million goods and services annually
  • Analyze and plan for capital procurement initiative opportunities in a 5year horizon
  • Address internal stakeholder needs whilst ensuring quality outputs in market events contracts scopes of work and total cost of ownership
  • Assess industry/supplier landscape by utilizing market research and supplier due diligence
  • Manage Source to Contract and Procure to Pay processes supporting capital program requirements
  • Lead complex capital project negotiations through to final contract(s) and execution
  • Organize and manage the integration of procurement tasks into the capital project process including the implementation and change management of these tasks
  • Lead the development and implementation of a standardized capital procurement planning tool
  • Drive achievement of value creation goals as they relate to efficiency risk management project aggregation and supply chain optimization
  • Lead integration of Capital Procurement with Procurement Operations Category Management strategies and Potash business requirements for safe efficient production
  • Ensure local supplier community partnerships and Indigenous engagement
  • Coach counsel and develop the performance of the Potash Capital Procurement team
  • Maintain and strengthen internal and external relationships

What you will bring:

  • Bachelors Degree required Business Engineering Supply Chain Management or related field MBA or graduate degree is considered an asset
  • 10 years relevant experience in leading procurement for capital projects in a mining/industrial setting
  • Certifications in Supply Chain Project Management or Logistics is considered an asset
  • Strong initiative work ethic and dedication to constructing and executing bestinclass procurement strategies and plans which will directly create value for Nutrien
  • Expert understanding of capital project execution requirements procurement policies processes and procedures and proven capability to implement across all levels of the operations.
  • High competency in analyzing data to identify opportunities and resolve problems
  • Customer focus mentality putting the needs of the business first whilst ensuring there is alignment and collaboration
  • Superior relationship building skills strong communication and change management acumen
  • Experience with complex high value contract negotiation and formation for capital projects
  • Commercial business savvy in a large industrial/mining setting
  • Experience managing and developing a high performing team of procurement professionals
  • Practical experience with enterprise asset management systems (SAP/Oracle) and spend management tools (Ariba)
