JOB SUMMARY
Transit Operations provides safe reliable and courteous transit services and excellence in customer service delivery to 100 million transit customers per year by means of conventional bus para transit and rail operations. The Transit Fleet and Facilities Maintenance team provides safe reliable efficient timely and costeffective transit vehicle maintenance services to support federally regulated transit services within the City.
As a Project Manager working within the Zero Emissions Bus Program you are responsible for developing/implementing strategies and managing total project delivery with a focus on condition assessment improvement and renewal/rehabilitation of transit fleet vehicles facilities and physical assets of the linear network.
You coordinate activities with inhouse technical operational and trades staff manage contracts for inspection testing servicing and replacement of various transit fleet vehicle and facility components manage project consultations inquiries/related communications and project budgets contribute to ongoing initiatives in the branch and perform related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of 4 year university degree in Business Administration Engineering or Applied Science specializing in Mechanical Electrical or Civil Engineering disciplines or related field that includes courses relating to project management and/or facilities management.
Minimum of 5 years of related and progressively responsible experience in the design construction and rehabilitation of facilities fleet vehicles or network (linear) physical infrastructure including a minimum of three years construction project management or facilities management experience.
KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of the issues/principles involved in the provision of public transit in Ottawa;
- Knowledge of transit operations and trends
- Possess an understanding of asset acquisition/lifecycle management of major transit assets programs and processes
- Possess an understanding of principles of project management including project design development implementation cost containment/control evaluation methods/techniques risk management and reporting
- Understanding of federal and provincial government legislation and regulatory requirements governing building construction
- Knowledge of TSSA Regulations & Codes relating to elevators
- Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Ontario Highway Traffic Act
- Understanding of cost benefit analysis and techniques
- Knowledge of contract management and oversight of consultants
- Understanding of processes for developing Requests for Qualifications Requests for Proposals and the tendering and contracting process including acceptance review and selection of bids/tenders
- Knowledge of interpersonal techniques applied in project management to initiate/negotiate/control contract changes negotiate with service providers to obtain deliverables within approved scope limits and to achieve client expectations
- Knowledge of Protocols for developing submissions briefings major reports
- Understanding of processes for preparing project budgets
- Knowledge of computer applications including project management/scheduling/cost control software applications Computer Aided Design (CAD) MS Office Suite email and use of the IntraInternet
- Knowledge of industry leading construction approaches materials processes and practices
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation including the rights and duties of workers
