Yarra City Council has anew and exciting opportunity waiting for an experienced Educational Leader within our Richmond Early Years Precinct. This rare and highly sought after role is a fulltime position within our service leadership team. This role is best suited to a VIT registered early childhood teacher with previous experience in educational leadership. If successful you will have the opportunity to guide and nurture our team of diverse and passionate early childhood educators. Through strategies of role modelling coaching and mentoring you will collaboratively elevate their practice documentation inquiry and critical reflection all to positively impact the childrens learning journey.

What is the Richmond Early Years Precinct

The Richmond Early Years Precinct is a dualsite early childhood education and care service owned and managed by Yarra City Council. Comprising of Yarraberg Childrens Centre and Richmond Kindergarten the Richmond Early Years Precinct provides high quality Long Day Care and Sessional Kindergarten programs to children living in and around the municipality. The total licenced capacity of the Richmond Early Years Precinct caters for up to 120 children per day. Within theRichmond Early Years Precinct we valueresponsive practices that meet the individual needs of each child and their family.

How will the Educational Leader be supported to do their job well

Our Early Years Precinct model has enabled Yarras Childrens Services to focus on a strengthbased approach to leadership. Each of our leadership roles are supported to focus on their area of expertise complementing the skills and competencies of their counterparts to create a rich tapestry of knowledge leaders and skill builders.

The Educational Leader role sits within a wellappointed and established Early Years Precinct leadership team including:

• Precinct Coordinator
• Precinct Team Leader
• Precinct Educational Leader
• Precinct Admin Support

This strong and effective leadership model means that our Educational Leaders can focus on what they do best coaching educators towards high quality practice that is guided by contemporary early childhood theory.

The Precinct Educational Leader also has the opportunity to work as part of the broader Yarra Family Youth and Childrens Services team with immense opportunity to build your professional network.

What qualifications and experience will you need for this role

• Bachelor of Early Childhood Teaching (or equivalent ACEQCA recognised qualification)
• Current VIT registration
• Up to date first aid anaphylaxis and asthma training
• At least 3 years experience in an educational leadership role
• Experience in coaching and mentoring educators
• Strong understanding of various educational theories approved curriculum frameworks and best professional practice
• Understanding and experience working with children and families with complex needs including trauma experiences and diagnosed behavioural and/or physical needs in a way that empowers them
• Ability to foster an environment of innovation amongst the team
