The Careers & Employability unit is part of the Learning Teaching & Curriculum division within the DVC (Academic & Student Life) portfolio at UOW. Working in flexible responsive multidisciplinary teams LTC works in partnership with stakeholders to drive innovation and sectorleading practice for the benefit of our students and to secure UOWs position at the forefront of higher education excellence.

Teams within Careers & Employability develop and deliver services and programs in collaboration with Faculties Divisions and students to enhance students career readiness and employability. In curriculum the team enables learning and teaching transformation through the development of innovative approaches to Career Development Learning (CDL) and Work Integrated Learning (WIL).

The Careers & Employability Unit currently has an opportunity for a fulltime ongoing Student Employability Officer.

About the Role

The Student Employability Officer will deliver career development learning (CDL) and employability services programs and resources that are informed by best practice and evidence. Under the guidance of the Team Leader Student Careers Consultant and in collaboration with the Faculty Careers Specialists this position will also contribute to the development of new programs and resources.

This role contributes to the Universitys goals in relation to student employability and student experience and to the strategic priority to empower students for their futures through excellent service provision.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Undergraduate/Bachelors degree in a related field with additional training such as a Graduate Certificate in Careers Education and Development or Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (completed or in progress).
  • Ability to apply career development theories concepts research and associated models and frameworks to practice.
  • Ability to source critically evaluate and apply credible reliable labour market information and use this information to inform career education and assist students.
  • Ability to conduct career development work in ethical and culturally sensitive ways that recognise and respect diversity.
  • Welldeveloped skills in the use of common office technologies and software and the ability to troubleshoot straightforward issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise and complete multiple tasks whilst applying initiative and sound judgement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills including demonstrated cultural sensitivity.
  • Evidence of strong client/ student focus in dynamic fast paced work environments requiring high levels of confidentiality to be maintained.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both autonomously and in a team environment.
