We are seeking a creative collaborative datadriven leader with a deep understanding of search social media engagement analytics audience distribution strategies and internet culture. The assistant editor audience role will support the audience editor in all aspects of defining the Guardians audience strategy and will be responsible for audience functions in the editors absence.
In addition to supporting the daytoday audience operation you will also assist Guardian Australias multimedia team to develop offplatform strategy and collaborate with editorial teams across the newsroom on major special projects. That includes thinking of creative ways to amplify and increase the impact of The Guardians most highprofile series and investigations including building social media campaigns with the social team developing popup newsletters or other bespoke audience strategies.
The assistant editor audience role will also support the Guardians wider audience goals which includes increasing the engagement and loyalty of our Australian audience and diversifying our audiences culturally and geographically to create journalism and build a readership that is representative of Australia. You must have a solid understanding of journalism ethics exceptional writing skills and strong communications skills.
This role is being offered on a fulltime permanent basis with early starts/late finishes and includes occasional weekend work. This role is open to candidates based in Sydney or Melbourne.
