As the Executive General Manager Primary Care you will provide highlevel strategic direction and oversight to strengthen the capacity and capability of primary care across Western Australia. You will shape strengthen and implement programs with an emphasis on continuous improvement demonstrating outcomes and strong sector engagement ensuring that care is personcentred and equitable.


This is no ordinary executive role. Youll be:

Setting the direction for bold evidencebased programs that strengthen primary care and improve access to services for the people who need it most.

Championing health equity working handinhand with GPs Aboriginal health organisations government and community partners to tackle priority health conditions like mental health and heart failure.

Bringing bigpicture thinking to life translating reform agendas like Strengthening Medicare into real measurable change in communities across the state.

Leading and inspiring a highperforming team to deliver innovative preventative health solutions that improve lives now and into the future.

Sitting at the executive table helping to shape WAPHAs strategic direction and leaving a legacy of improved outcomes stronger systems and lasting partnerships.

Key tasks and responsibilities include but not limited to:

Lead the strategic direction and delivery of primary care initiatives across Western Australia in alignment with national health priorities.
Design and implement evidencebased programs that strengthen general practice and improve access to care for underserved populations.
Drive the implementation of health reform agendas including Strengthening Medicare and multidisciplinary team care.
Build and maintain strategic partnerships with GPs health service providers Aboriginal health organisations and government agencies.
Commission highimpact services with a focus on prevention integration and measurable health outcomes.
Represent WAPHA at executive forums and with key stakeholders to advocate for primary care reform and investment.
Inspire lead and develop a highperforming team fostering a culture of accountability collaboration and innovation.
Ensure operational plans and performance measures are aligned to WAPHAs strategic objectives and governance standards.
Oversee stakeholder engagement strategies to ensure the voice of general practice and community is embedded in program design.
Monitor financial performance and optimise the use of funding through strong governance efficiency and continuous improvement.

About you

To be considered for this role candidates must meet the following selection criteria:

Essential experience and education

Proven track record of executive leadership in complex multistakeholder environments ideally within the health government or notforprofit sectors.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in health public policy business or a related field.
Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing strategic plans and driving them through to successful implementation.
Indepth understanding of the Australian primary health care system including policy funding models and reform agendas.
Strong experience in managing largescale programs and commissioning services that deliver measurable health outcomes.
Skilled in building and sustaining strategic partnerships across government private and community sectors to drive system change.
Highlevel financial acumen with experience in budgeting forecasting and aligning resources to strategic priorities.
Experience leading and motivating highperforming teams with a strong focus on culture innovation and continuous improvement.
Advanced stakeholder engagement negotiation and influencing skills including experience working at Executive and Board level.
Exceptional emotional intelligence and ability to lead through complexity ambiguity and transformational change.
