Cardiac Sonographer

The Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for independently performing high-quality echocardiograms for inpatients and outpatients, generating preliminary reports, and collaborating with the Cardiologist during Stress Echocardiogram procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform high-quality inpatient and outpatient echocardiograms independently.
• Assist the Cardiologist with Stress Echocardiograms.
• Accurately document findings and escalate abnormalities to the appropriate clinician.
• Follow patient identification protocols and departmental guidelines.
• Support and supervise trainee sonographers as directed.
• Maintain safe and effective use of ultrasound equipment.
• Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
• Ensure compliance with safety, accreditation, and organisational standards.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Completion of an accredited Cardiac Ultrasound qualification
• Current registration with Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry
• A minimum of 3 years post graduate experience in both Echocardiogram and Stress Echocardiogram
• Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to liaise with hospital personnel, private referrers, contracted agencies, clients and family members
• Demonstrated autonomy and a high standard of clinical reasoning skills in the performance of echocardiography procedures
