Job Description

Job Title: Legal Officer
Location: City Centre GBlock 2nd floor Room no.206 Siliguri
Reports To: Executive Assistant
Job Description: The Legal Officers main responsibility is to ensure legal documentation aligns with laws and organizational policies. This includes drafting reviewing and managing documents like affidavits inhouse signup agreements and predeparture agreements for candidates during recruitment. The role involves collaborating with internal teams to ensure contracts are executed correctly and on time while minimizing legal risks. The Legal Officer must stay updated on legal changes manage documents efficiently and provide legal guidance to maximize compliance and minimize risks. Attention to detail legal expertise and time management are crucial for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure all legal documents like affidavits agreements undertaking and predeparture agreements are drafted reviewed and executed accurately and in compliance with applicable laws.
Ensure that all terms and conditions mentioned in the agreements/affidavits are compliant with international recruitment regulations including Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) requirements visa processing and overseas placement regulations.
Provide legal guidance and support to various departments to ensure all agreements and other related legal matter are properly executed during the processing of the candidate.
Assist with managing legal risks by ensuring compliance with relevant laws immigration regulations and other applicable laws.
Act as the primary point of contact for external legal counsel regulatory bodies and authorities regarding immigration and legal issues.
Provide legal advice and resolve any legal disputes arising from recruitment activities candidate placements or contractual obligations.
Handle legal queries related to agreements contracts departures etc.
Update and revise agreements as needed.
Liaise with relevant departments to verify the consistency of all documents.
Maintain an organized and confidential filing system for all legal documents/papers/letters.
Ensure all signed agreements affidavits and other legal documentation are properly filed and stored in both digital and physical formats.
Ensure all signed agreements are stored securely and tracked for reference.
Develop and maintain tracking systems for the status of agreements including candidate signups and predeparture processes.
Conduct periodic legal audits to ensure that all documents are uptodate and compliant.
Work closely with teams to ensure timely completion of necessary legal documents for candidates at different stages of the hiring process.
Coordinate with external stakeholders (lawyers notaries or government bodies) for verifying the legality and authentication of documents and agreements.
Provide legal training and awareness to team members on the legal aspects of agreements and other legal matters.
Stay updated on the latest legal trends practices and regulations to ensure the organization remains compliant.
Qualifications:
Law degree (LLB) with additional qualifications like an LLM or legal certifications being advantageous.
Professional certification in compliance (e. g. Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional CCEP) preferred.
02 years in legal roles especially in document management or contract law.
Ability to analyze legal issues and provide sound advice
