Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) plus two years of counseling experience.
FUNCTION OF WORK:
To provide intensive developmental and therapeutic assessment and treatment in serious or complicated cases that require a range of therapeutic and intervention skills.
LEVEL OF WORK:

Broad from a licensed behavioral health professional or higherlevel manager or administrator.SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

May be used by all state agencies.JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from the Professional Counselor 3 and the Social Service Counselor job series by the presence of licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
Differs from the Professional Counselor 5 and other supervisory counselor jobs by the absence of supervisory responsibilities.
This clinician position provides clinical assessment and treatment of clients admitted to the inpatient residential substance use treatment facility. The clinician may evaluate anddeterminesappropriatenessof referrals/admissions when a bed becomes available. The clinician completes comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments treatment plans screenings treatment/counseling via individual/family/group therapies as well as discharge plans for patients and families as needed.The clinician also works on an interdisciplinary treatment team in order to provide thorough and comprehensive care making recommendations for treatment plans and assisting in formulatingtherapeutic activities. Additionally the clinician attendsannual and PRNtrainingsand webinars to improve competency in assessment diagnosis and treatment of substance use disorders.
