Job Description

Description

Inpatient surgery pharmacist position at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester Methodist Campus in Rochester MN. In this role the pharmacist provides exceptional care to patients throughout their perioperative journey including preoperative intraoperative and postoperative phases of medication management. Decentral clinical services consist of collaborative practice with multidisciplinary teams identification of drugrelated problems provision and documentation of recommendations through progress notes regarding optimization of drug therapy admission and discharge medication reconciliation transition of care planning participation on discharge rounds intermittent surgical team rounds and direct patient care.

Job Responsibilitiesinclude assessment of medication therapy regimens medication therapy management medication order verification/entry medication distribution medication therapy monitoring and consultation documentation of medication therapy plans and medication use education and pharmaceutical care of Mayo Clinic pharmacy and other disciplines learners is expected.

Involvement in scholarly activities including quality initiatives and multidisciplinary research is encouraged and supported through extensive institutional and departmental resources. Opportunity for academic appointment at hiring and progression through appointment ranks through achievement.



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of an ACPEaccredited Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.

Additional Qualifications

  • Previous experience including PGY1 or PGY2 training and/or equivalent experience of 3 years in practice
  • Other advanced degrees (e.g. Masters Ph.D.) and applicable Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) or other certification applicable to the position as determined by the supervisor preferred.
  • Evidence of ongoing scholarly pursuits including research/quality improvement publications or scientific presentations.
  • Relevant applicable pharmacy experience working in a progressive and collaborative practice environment.
  • Experience and/or interest in teaching and/or precepting.
  • Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy Specialty (BCPS)
  • Commitment to excellence accuracy attention to detail and teamwork required. Ability to communicate effectively work collaboratively with others organizes time well practice with an agile mindset solve problems and work independently with minimal supervision required.

License or Certification

  • Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy Specialty (BCPS)
  • Current pharmacist license by the MN Board of Pharmacy or eligible to obtain within a time frame compliant with the sites applicable employee licensure policy. May not independently fulfill responsibilities reserved only to a pharmacist until license is obtained.
