Nutrition Services Manager

Position Criteria:

• Associates degree
• Experience in Food & Nutrition Dietetics or equivalent field
• Strong knowledge of Food & Nutrition Services applicable laws regulations guidelines professional standards food safety and work safety
• School Nutrition Association certification and ServSafe certification required (within 90 days of employment)
• Experience in procurement and writing of bid specifications and Request for Proposals
• Experience in purchasing inventory and cost analysis procedures
• Extensive knowledge of rules and regulations regarding procurement procedures
• Experience in large quantity institution meal planning and preparation
• ServeSafe Certification required or may obtain within 90 days of hire
• School Nutrition Association Certification preferred

Performance Criteria:

• Provide supervision leadership and direction to Kitchen Supervisors and staff. Provide technical assistance to site supervisors and staff in all areas of operation to ensure compliance consistency and food production standards.
• Coordinate the Picnic and Play Summer Food Service Program including: site selection and application training for staff and volunteers program logistics claims and adherence to all federal program guidelines. Assist with the program.
• Scheduling: Planning Managing Labor Scheduling Substitutes. On Call to address future staff 24/7. Always available for contact by phone if a staff member will be missing work. Addressing staffing issues from home as they occur. Make daily staffing decisions/changes to adjust
• Assist with menu development (taste testing standardizing recipes forecasting and implementing process)
• Manage TimeClock and Approve Timecards
• Complete site inspections to verify that all operation procedures cleanliness health and safety are being maintained according to state and local health regulations Federal and departmental guidelines
• Manage all ordering of food. Monitors availability of products and gives input to menu changes as needed.
• Nutrition Software Assist nutrition staff with support regarding online nutrition software procedures and manage back of the house software system (inventory & production records)
• Fill in for any position in the nutrition department as needed
• Maintain open communication and cooperative relationships with others inspire individual and team development actively participate in meetings and work groups and support the goals and objectives of the district and the department.
• Manage classroom treats catering and special events.
• Administer and verify commodity diverted foods department of defense program and Direct Deliveries
• Absence Management Approvals/Submitting absences.
• Assist with labor needs including job posting interviewing hiring and department onboarding.
• Evaluating employee performance
• Organize and plan staff training and professional development
• Assist with taking parent calls concerning childrens lunch account
• Assist in managing Standard Operations Procedures (SOPs) in coordination with department administration
• Manage and coordinate with vendors and manufacturers all rebates promotions and new products
• Attend meetings and serve on committees to represent department as assigned
• Prepare and maintain reports as requested by the Nutrition Services Director
• Keep informed regarding legislation pertaining to the school food service program
• Track and ensure all staff receive minimum CEU training hours as required by USDA.
• Teach and proctor ServSafe
