Job Description

Position Title:Technical Sales RepresentativeDate 4/2025 Job Classification:Exempt/SalaryDept:Office Direct Reports:NoneTravel:Up to 20% Position Reports to:Chief EngineerDepartment Manager:Jimmy Dooley This position is an exempt position. Standard office hours for the position are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. There may be a need for employee to work a schedule different from the standard daily schedule to meet the needs of the customer and to ensure tasks are completed. This position is exempt from overtime.
Remote Capabilities: After one (1) year of employment position may be considered for hybrid remote work privileges.
General Summary of Position

The Technical Sales Representatives focus is to assist with customer retention to maintain existing accounts and work closely with engineering and the production team to deliver solutions to our customers. Additionally the Technical Sales Representative is responsible for helping to identify and develop new business opportunities.

The Technical Sales Representative role is to be the liaison between the customers and all internal departments at DGS so the overall customer technical needs are met.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers distributors and industry contacts.
  • Understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate gasket materials and solutions.
  • Provide technical support including product selection quoting and application guidance.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure customer specifications are met.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations and proposals.
  • Track sales activity maintain CRM data and report on key metrics.
  • Attend trade shows customer meetings and industry events as needed.
  • Prepare annual customer price books with updated prices based on current costs.
  • Prepare price quotes for new parts and custom RFQs.
  • Read and understand customer requirements of all specifications.
  • Create necessary certification forms relating to any customer parts.
  • Manage the Customer Experience in a positive manner while helping to ensure that any challenges are resolved. (i.e. going on site to a customer location to review a customer order educate customers on DGS products and services complete root cause analysis to help ensure for lower customer rejections)
  • Track Nonconformances and corrective action plans.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must have reliable transportation (Employee is expected to be on site at customer locations as requested. Additionally there will be instances when employee is requested to attend Trade Shows/National Industry events on behalf of DGS)
  • While performing the duties of the job the employee is required to sit stand bend walk squat for full work day.
  • Generally works indoors may work outside dealing with extreme heat >85 degrees extreme cold <32 degrees.
  • The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee may occasionally handle objects weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Walk up and down stairs frequently.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
