We are seeking a committed experienced and compassionate School Attendance Officer to join Wirral Virtual School on a 12 month fixed term basis.
About the Role:
Your main focus will be our cohort of children looked after but you will also support schools strategically with their children who have a child in need or child protection plan. You will play a key role in improving attendance promoting educational engagement and helping vulnerable children to thrive in education and achieve good outcomes.
You will monitor and track the attendance of our children looked after identifying patterns of absence and working proactively with schools families carers social workers and other professionals to address barriers to attendance. You may undertake home and school visits to plan next steps and support reengagement with education. You will help schools to identify patterns of attendance of their children who have a child in need or child protection plan and suggest strategies to improve their attendance. You will work closely with the Virtual School team to help secure the best outcomes for our children.
You will report directly to the Virtual School Headteacher and produce attendance reports and data to show areas of need and the impact of strategies used.
About the Candidate:
The successful candidate will have experience of working with children and families with an understanding of the educational system. You will have experience of working collaboratively within a multiagency environment with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
