The Sharon Police Department is seeking qualified and dedicated individuals to join our team as parttime Police Dispatchers. The anticipated opening would be on Saturdays between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. In this critical support role you will be responsible for receiving emergency and nonemergency calls dispatching appropriate police units and coordinating communication between field units and other emergency services.
Key Responsibilities:
Answer and prioritize emergency (911) and nonemergency calls for service.
Dispatch police units promptly and efficiently.
Monitor radio traffic and maintain communication with field personnel.
Operate computeraided dispatch (CAD) systems databases and other communication equipment.
Accurately document calls officer activity and other relevant information.
Maintain composure and professionalism in highstress situations.
Provide information and assistance to the public as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Prior experience in emergency dispatching public safety communications or related field preferred.
Strong multitasking communication and decisionmaking skills.
Ability to work flexible hours including nights weekends and holidays.
Successful completion of a background investigation and preemployment screening.
Preferred Qualifications and Certificates:
E911 NextGeneration APCO PST1
Familiarity with CAD (IMC Preferred) NCIC and CJIS systems.
Compensation:
$26.21 per hour. Rate currently in negotiations.
