Performs account receivable processes including verifying medical insurance coverage auditing data elements related to reimbursement of services and collection of revenue from all payors in compliance with Hospice of the Western Reserves procedures and regulatory standards.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Identifies new hospice care admissions for assigned teams.
  • Ensures patients primary and all other medical insurances have been verified and documented in the electronic medical record.
  • Setup and maintains patients primary secondary and other identified coverage in the Payor Source screen of the electronic medical record according to the requirements of the payors.
  • Investigates and verifies patients medical insurance benefits when benefits change.
  • Coordinates the Financial Assessment and Payment Agreement process for patients that are uninsured.
  • Processes Medicare Notice of Elections according to established procedures.
  • Analyzes and audits Level of Care against patient service location.
  • Performs prebilling functions according to established procedures.
  • Coordinates the Residential Room and Board process with the Social Workers at the Inpatient Units and processes room and board Payment Agreements charges payments and refunds as assigned.
  • Followup on patient accounts per established procedures.
  • Documents all followup on patient accounts in billing comments section in the electronic medical record.
  • Prepares Billing Adjustments and Payment Adjustments according to established procedures.
  • Maintains the Revenue Cycle Key Performance Indicators targets as established by the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Interacts with patients/families regarding medical insurance benefits and reimbursement of services.
  • Demonstrates effective Service Excellence skills according to agency standards.
  • Works collaboratively with Revenue Cycle team members and other appropriate Hospice of the Western Reserve staff to ensure reimbursement of all services.
  • Assists in the continued development of the verification admission and reimbursement processes.
  • Performs identified backup functions for the Insurance Verification Coordinator and other Patient Accounts Coordinators as identified.


SUCCESS CAPABILITIES:

  • Two (2) or more years experience with electronic medical records preferred.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to compose and type business correspondence.
  • Must be detail oriented and be able to work in a fastpaced environment.
  • Must demonstrate strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work both independently and in a team environment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
