You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailAbout the role:TheHousing Specialistworks withclients from our emergency and transitional programs. The Housing Specialist will conduct outreach in the community to build relationships with landlords and clients and other community partners already serving our client population and develop and execute housing stability plans facilitate educational workshops provide landlord/tenant mediation. The goal of Housing Specialist is to provide clientcentered services that promote exits to stable housing. Various strategies must be developed to create a structure of stability. Support may require assessing timelimited subsidies housing problem solving and linkage to employment and community resources. This position requires knowledge of San Mateo County (and surrounding areas) housing market trends fair housing landlord/tenant rights and a strong understanding of the leasing process an understanding of the sensitivity to the needs of our client population
Duties Include:
Housing Specialist:
Ensure enrollments assessments intakes and other program participant documentation are maintained to the program standard
Identify housing problem solving intervention strategies
Develop effective working partnerships to ensure the highest level of service possible
Comprehension of housing services to participants
Support client(s) selfsufficiency goals which also includes working directly with landlords
Assist Case Managers with housing leads applications unit viewings and lease processes
Meet with participants at a frequency and location determined by their needs
Initiates and participates in outreach activities as necessary
Program Responsibilities:
Communicate frequently with all members of the team to improve systems shared resources and coordinate services provided
Cultivate collaboration with community partners regarding housing
Attend meetings with core partners and community agencies
Provide regular debriefing with team members on a onetoone basis
Attend all meetings and trainings relevant to the program
Follow best practices and protocol to ensure accurate collecting storing and presenting of data
Work alongside staff to ensure timely and accurate data entry
Maintaining spreadsheets and files for client stored data
Fill other reasonable requests as made by supervisor including assistance across program lines
**This is a temp position for 46 weeks
Undergraduate degree preferred or related experience
Professional experience in property management is strongly desired
Knowledge of local housing markets subsidized housing programs and fair housing laws
Demonstrated ability working with individuals and families from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds
Must be computer literate; experienced with Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook)
Excellent written and oral communication skills; comfortable presenting in front of groups
Strong organizational detail oriented and time management skills.
Proven ability to work independently and effectively as part of a collaborative team
Display a high level of initiative and commitment towards completing duties and ongoing professional development
Valid California drivers license and proof of insurance
