The Department of Athletics will support the university mission by developing and maintaining a topquality Division II intercollegiate athletics program that is committed to providing a positive and fulfilling academic and athletic experience for all studentathletes. As a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) and the NCAA Division II CSU Pueblo Athletics plays a supporting role in the higher education mission while enhancing a sense of community strengthening our identity and playing a prominent role in enrollment management for the University.Description of Job
This fulltime yearround administrative professional position provides an Assistant Track and Field Throws Coach in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. The primary purpose of this position is to coach studentathletes in the throwing events including coaching team practices and competition developing studentathlete skills building understanding of the sport event and meet preparation and management teamwork and conditioning. A major role is mentoring studentathletes including academic support and advisement and providing skills training.
This position provides assistance in all phases of the track and field program. The duties include but are not limited to: assisting in practices workouts and meets; recruiting scouting scheduling coordinating travel monitoring player academics home track meets equipment and facility management assisting with home football games (set up/tear down) and other duties to be assigned by the Head Coach and/or Vice President for Athletics and Strategic Partnerships.Primary Duties- Assist in coaching at all team practices work outs and scheduled competitions including skills demonstration. Primary area of coaching is the throwing events.
- Recruit highlyqualified prospective studentathletes.
- Carryout administrative duties in the mens and womens cross country and track and field program as assigned by the head coach. Help with home event management including football games (set up/tear down).
- Monitor studentathlete academics including studentathlete welfare and encourage academic excellence.
- Order organize assign collect and account for all gear related to the track and field program.
Ancillary DutiesOther duties as assigned by the Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach and/or Vice President for Athletics and Strategic Partnerships.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited 4year institution
- Willing and able to work nights and weekends as needed to fulfill position duties
- Physical ability to fulfill duties of the position including lifting up to 50 lbs. and having the mobility needed to demonstrate skills and movement required in practices/contests
- At least 2 years of experience at the collegiate level in track and field as a thrower or coaching experience at the high school or higher level
- Experience in position(s) or activities which required skills in:
Cooperation
Organization
Communication
Problem solving
Preferred Qualifications- Demonstrated commitment and ability to motivate teach and counsel studentathletes from a wide range of backgrounds similar
to that of Colorado State University Pueblo - Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Strong management interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Experience as an assistant track and field coach specifically with throwing events
- Experience coaching at the collegiate level in track & field/cross country
- Experience recruiting NCAA qualified studentathletes
