Job Description

Job Description Summary

Part of a global team developing the realtime control software for industryleading MR Scanners. Design implement and test firmware subsystems in collaboration with the system design team and hardware engineers utilizing the MR hardware and embedded software technologies. Design and implementation of distributed control software that manages the nextgeneration components and subsystems medical devices. Leverage DFR for software Agile and Lean software development methodologies to drive reliability into the product development life cycle. Design and build strong testing infrastructures to minimize dependency on hardware availability. Engage in all phases of New Product Introduction (NPI) including concept architecture documentation design prototype test supplier interfaces manufacturing introduction and service support. Work closely with systems teams in requirements gathering and software design. Support planning the development activities; perform technical design and code reviews mentor and coach junior engineers. Collaborate with global engineering teams to promote consistency and maximize synergies across common software platforms.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead a project with multiple team members including project planning and tracking to plan
  • Collaborate with systems and hardware teams to gather and capture requirements
  • Develop software which meets quality reliability performance and testability requirements
  • Work with global teams and architects on generating consistent design and architectural improvements for MR platforms
  • Conduct design and code reviews to ensure best practices
  • Plan and conduct work using the Scaled Agile Framework
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers on the team

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering Computer Science or a related field
  • 8 years of experience designing and developing embedded software using C and objectoriented design

Desired Characteristics:

  • Masters degree or PhD in a related field
  • 3 years of experience using continuous integration and automated testing
  • 5 years of experience in embedded system troubleshooting using standard tools such as emulators debuggers and analyzers
  • 5 years of experience working with a Realtime OS such as VxWorks
  • Experience using a Linux development environment and containers
  • Experience in a regulated environment that required rigor in documenting requirements designs testing and results
  • Experience working on medical devices within a Quality Management System (QMS)
