THE ROLE: Research Analyst
American Student Assistance (ASA) is national nonprofit that is changing the way kids learn about careers and prepare for their futures through access to careerreadiness information and experiences.
ASA fulfills its mission through free digitalfirst direct experiences philanthropy advocacy thought leadership groundbreaking research and impact investing. We are hiring a Research Analyst. This role will report directly to the Director of Research and Insights and be responsible for partnering with the Research and Insights team on internalfacing and externalfacing projects that advance ASAs organizational priorities.
What Youll Do:
Data Analysis: Ensure data integrity by performing data cleaning validation and preparation tasks across diverse datasets; Produce topline statistics subgroup comparisons and multivariate analyses to explore key research questions; Apply statistical tools and techniques (e.g. regression analysis clustering significance testing driver analysis) to uncover insights and explain variation in outcomes; Translate complex findings into compelling visualizations and dashboards that are understandable to nontechnical audiences.
Strategic Planning & Development: Identify and propose highimpact research projects aligned with ASAs mission and priorities particularly those that inform federal state or local education policies; Collaborate with policy experts to design studies that leverage state and national datasets to analyze student outcomes.
Innovation & Leadership: Collaborate with the Research & Insights team to shape our research agenda and analytical approaches.
About You:
- 510 years of experience required in a research polling analyst or a related role.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information and develop actionable insights.
- Experience with research and statistical tools including for example STATA SPSS Dataiku and/or other similar tools.
- Experienced professional with the ability to translate the big picture into action.
