Job Description

NBCUniversals Owned Television station in the Dallas/Fort Worth area KXAS TV/KXTX TV is looking for a dynamic highly organized journalist ready to connect our community to the talented storytellers on our team. As an Assignment Desk Editor at NBC 5/T39 you will interact with a wide variety of people across DallasFort Worth gathering story ideas organizing information and setting up interviews. Journalists working on the assignment desk team are expected to react to breaking news aggressively update our digital and social platforms all while communicating with members of our diverse community who may speak multiple languages including English and Spanish.


Responsibilities:

  • Assign reporters photographers and other personnel to cover stories
  • Monitor social media police radios electronic/printed sources for potential news content
  • Post stories & content to and NBC5 and T39 social media channels
  • Assist producers reporters and photographers with researching stories and gathering information
  • Answer newsroom phones and respond to viewer emails
  • Set up and coordinate live remotes inside and outside the building

Qualifications :

Basic Qualifications:

  • Fluency in Spanish and English with exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both languages. 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in a newsroom with at least 1 year on the assignment desk

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Interested candidate must submit a resume/CV through to be considered
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be willing to work in Fort Worth just south of DFW Airport
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must have a valid drivers license
  • Must have the ability to work any of a 24 x 7 shift
  • Must be available to work overtime evenings weekends and holidays as needed or required
  • Must accept Solutions as NBCUniversals Alternative Dispute Resolution program

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • Previous work experience requiring organization and research skills
  • Must work well under pressure.
  • Knowledge of DallasFort Worth market.
  • Selfstarter with great social media skills and strong news judgment
  • Ability to work contacts and react quickly and aggressively to breaking news and developing stories

Additional Requirements:

Required OnSite: This position is required to be performed fulltime from an NBCUniversaldesignated worksite.
