Job Description
Contribute to the SQL Database roadmap and strategy for the adoption of cloud technologies.
Maintain the integrity and performance of all Database platforms across all environments through regular maintenance and monitoring.
Ensure Backup procedures are in place and available for Disaster Recovery procedures.
Maintain the highavailability and disaster recovery (HADR) systems including performing failover and failback.
Provide administration and support for areas surrounding Security SQL Agent Jobs SSIS Packages.
Provide consultancy and code reviews to other areas of the IT department regarding Database design and performance whilst adhering to industrystandard best practices and community recommendations.
Support and deliver Database related code deployments across all platforms and environments for other IT teams.
Ensuring adherence to Principle of Least Privilege with regards to security and access permissions in all environments.
Provide continual performance tuning and optimisation ideas/solution with relevant information/understanding to support them.
Govern and control Database Source Control policies and adherence.
Responsible for providing regular Database environment refreshes.
Working on Projects ranging from small to medium relating to Database platforms.
Create maintain and improve upon all Database documentation and processes.
Provide very occasional Database support outside of normal working hours.
Qualifications :
Significant experience of Microsoft SQL Server administration with Production support.
Knowledge of Microsoft Clustering and virtualisation concepts.
Experience of working with and supporting AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
Strong understanding and experience of using TSQL languages.
Good understanding and experience of source control and versioning methodologies and technologies.
Able to work within a team environment and also independently.
Good understanding and experience of using PowerShell.
Good communication skills both written and verbal in English.
Strong drive to learn develop and continually improve and automate the estate.
Good analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to work in a global crossfunctional team environment.
Additional Information :
Preferred but not essential
Experience in other Database platforms i.e. MySQL MariaDB CosmosDB Postgres.
Experience of managing Power BI solutions onpremise.
Experience with RedGate tools.
ITIL and Agile practices.
Experience with cloudhosted database platforms.
