Purpose of Role
Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions the FirstYear Admissions Counselor represents Daemen University to prospective students and organizations and works to increase inquiries and convert applications into enrolled students. The successful admissions counselor exhibits superior customer service skills and professionalism throughout daily interactions and communications with students including interviews phone calls emails information sessions and travel to high schools and admissions events. The counselor creates and implements recruitment strategies to reach prospective students through events referrals online and print communications and outreach to businesses and organizations.
About This Opportunity
Joining our Enrollment team the FirstYear Admissions Counselor will be responsible for the following:
- The individual in this position will be given an assigned territory to recruit and manage:
- Become familiar with the territory and demographics of cities/towns in that area to best reach the student population for Daemen University.
- Build relationships with students and families to recruit students to the universitys programs with attention to admissions cycles and deadlines.
- Work with prospective students to garner completed application files prior to enrollment and efforts to increase retention.
- Review applications and make enrollment decisions based on Daemens admission standards for firstyear student candidates.
- Work towards an individual and institutional enrollment goal
- Travel to and from recruitment events; engage in key stakeholders in a positive proactive and engaging manner.
- Complete weekly activity report to include documentation of recruitment/ outreach activities and student appointments.
- Under the direction of the Director participate in the events prior during and after each semester such as information sessions orientations registration events and graduation.
- Independently arrange information sessions set appointments and promote the University in a positive manner.
- Represent Daemen University programs and services accurately to prospective students and families.
- Utilize phone email and mail to communicate with prospective students in a timely manner providing superior student service.
- Treat fellow employees students and the institutions guests with civility and respect and to refrain from activities that disrupt the efficient functioning of the University.
- Follow directions and complete tasks accurately as well as accept supervisory input and constructive criticism.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution.
- The FirstYear Admissions Counselor must demonstrate an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members faculty students alumni administrators and staff.
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs. and stand for an extended period as part of travel and college fair recruitment.
- Work a varied schedule that includes days and some required evenings and weekends. A significant portion of the fall season will be spent traveling to college fairs and high school visits.
- A valid drivers license and access to a vehicle is required.
